Description

Description

Jane Hunter, OBE, is a charismatic ambassador for New Zealand wines, possessing in abundance the zestful, feisty and lively character of her country's sauvignons. When Jane and her late husband, Ernie planted their first vines in the picturesque Wairau Valley in Marlborough in 1979 the potential of the area for producing world-class wines was unknown. However in the 1980s after the release of early vintages their wines started winning international awards, previously unheard of for New Zealand wines.

Aroma

A super fizz from the classic Champagne blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier, and made using the traditional method. There is green apple, lemon and brioche on the nose and the bubbles are tight and firm, giving great texture and balancing the intense citrus core.

Tasting Notes

The delicate aromas of rising dough, short crust pastry and lemon and almond biscuits make this practically un-put-down-able. The bead is pinprick fine, the mouth-feel pillowy-soft and the finish has a faint caramel and citrus note.

Palate

An elegant palate showing a blend of peach/citrus chardonnay components followed by the light berry fruits of the pinot noir. The mouth filling mousse completes the palate that is full and persistent.
